🦠 SEPSIS OVERVIEW follow @nursewellversed for simplified nursing education Sepsis is the body’s severe, systemic response to an infection. Local infection →spreads to blood→systemic infalmmatory response This causes: →WBC’s to enter blood vessels and release infalmmatory markers →Increased permeability from the inflammatory markers causes capillary leak (fluid to leak out of blood vessels And this leads to: 🔴decreased systemic vascular resisteance (SVR) from vasodilation 🔴hypovolemia from capillary leak (leaky blood vessels) And THIS leads to HYPOTENSION, which leads to decreased tissue perfusion, which leads to inadequate tissue oxygenation, which CAN lead to severe organ damage if not treated I hope this simplifies a few concepts you’re learning in nursing school! Let me know if you’d like to dive deeper into this topic! #nursingschool #nursingstudent #nursingeducation #visuallearning #sepsis #nursing #futurenurse #futurenursesoftiktok #nursesoftiktok #nursingmajor #nclex

🫀 Heart Blocks A heart block happens when there’s a delay or interruption in the electrical conduction that controls the heart’s rhythm. Here are the 4 types you need to know: 🔹 1st Degree → PR interval is prolonged 🔹 2nd Degree Type I (Wenckebach) → PR gets progressively longer, then drops a beat 🔹 2nd Degree Type II (Mobitz II) → PR is consistent, but some QRS complexes are randomly dropped ⚠️ Highest risk of progressing to 3rd degree 🔴 3rd Degree (Complete Heart Block) → No communication between atria and ventricles → P waves and QRS complexes “march” independently 🚨 Medical emergency! Comment below if you’ve heard the heart block poem before! #nursingschool #nursingstudent #nursingeducation #nursingstudentsoftiktok #nclexrn #futurenurse #futurenursesoftiktok #nursetiktok #nursingmajor #nursingtiktok #nursing #cardiology #nclexreview #nclex #heartblock

🫀VITAL SIGNS for NURSING STUDENTS Knowing your basic vital signs is key in nursing school and one of the first things you learn in nursing fundamentals! MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY BREAKDOWN Medical terminology can feel overwhelming, but when we break it down, it's really just puzzles made of: 🧩 Prefixes – Come before the root to adjust meaning * Example: peri- = surrounding 🧩 Root words – Provide the main meaning * Example: cardiac = heart (from the Greek word kardia) 🧩 Suffixes – Come after the root to adjust meaning * Example: -ium = structure When we put it all together:
Pericardium = "Surrounding heart structure" – the protective layer around the heart. 📚 The more you build your word bank, the easier it becomes to decode new terms like: * Cardiology = study of the heart * Cardiomyopathy = disease of the heart muscle 💬 Comment below if this breakdown was helpful or tag a friend who could use this! #nursingschool #nursingstudent #medicalterminology #nursing #futurenurses #futurenursesoftiktok #nursingmajor #nursingtiktok #nursingeducation #nursetok #nursingstudentsoftiktok #nursingstudents
