Replying to @Heather D I have taught him that a blend has 2 sounds but we keep them together to help him read and write fluently! This is just the strategy that works best for him. Now that he’s starting to decode larger words, he will actually start chunking so he will no longer be breaking. sounds up individually. This is why we never segment suffixes and prefixes, which all has individual sounds, but we keep them together, like PRE, UN, DIS, ETC. ❤️ #phonics #learntoread #homeschooling #teachermom #backtoschool
