Time is the one thing I KNOW I can’t get back, so I’m learning to be intentional about what gets more of it. A person. A thought. An emotion. An opportunity. A habit. Damn near any “something.” Not everything deserves another 45 seconds, let alone another 4–5 years. And protecting my time doesn’t mean hiding from life. Quite the opposite. I’m trying to enjoy the heaven outta this human experience lol. I’d rather be the warrior in the garden; peaceful by preference, prepared by practice. Jordan came back wearing the 4-5. Others reminded him who 23 was, so he put the 23 back on…and then left 45 on the board. Sometimes life requires you to reach back and remind yourself who you are. But then you have to show ’em who you’ve become. Both serve a purpose. Not because the person you’ve become isn’t enough, but because growth doesn’t require you to bury every version of yourself that got you here. The warrior and the gardener can be the same person. But it’s better to be a warrior in the garden, as opposed to being a gardener at war. I can play whatever role the moment requires…and make sure we both succeed and leave greater than we started. And if we can’t both win? I’m still responsible for making sure I don’t lose myself. So whatever life may call for, I know what ensemble to wear. I’m confident enough to face it, ambitious enough to pursue what I want, resourceful enough to adjust when the play changes, and prepared to the best of my ability for whatever comes next. And it’s funny…as I complete this thought, I remember people saying 9 represents completion. And what’s 4 plus 5 equal? Of course it does. 😂 Long story less long: Your time is moving whether you’re intentional with it or not. Choose what deserves another 45. Think about where will it take you?
